Contagion shows local infectious-disease and environmental conditions for educational purposes. This policy explains what the app does and does not do with your information.

What we collect

Nothing on our servers. Contagion has no backend, no account system, and no analytics. We do not collect, store, sell, or share any personal information.

Location

If you tap Use my location, the app asks iOS for your approximate location (“while using the app” only). Your coordinates are used on your device to:

determine which U.S. state you are in, and
request public data for that area (air quality, UV index, nearby earthquakes).

Your coordinates are sent only to the public data providers listed below, solely to return conditions for that point. They are not stored by the app, not linked to any identifier, and never used for tracking or advertising. You can use the app without location by choosing a state manually, and you can revoke access anytime in iOS Settings › Privacy & Security › Location Services.

Third-party data providers

When you load an area, the app makes read-only requests to:

U.S. CDC (data.cdc.gov) — disease surveillance, by U.S. state.
Open-Meteo (open-meteo.com) — air quality and UV index, by coordinate.
USGS (earthquake.usgs.gov) — recent earthquakes, by coordinate.
NOAA / National Weather Service (api.weather.gov) — active alerts, by state.

These requests include only what each service needs (a state name or a latitude/longitude). Please review each provider’s own privacy terms for how they handle request logs.

Children

The app is not directed at children and collects no personal data from anyone.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the “Last updated” date above will change. Continued use of the app after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
